Pelvic approximation shows how well the pelvis can move independent of the trunk, which gives an indication of deep abdominal activation.
To perform this assessment:
- From a lying position, place left foot on the other side of right leg (at about the knee)
- Lift the left side of the pelvis upward as far as you can raising the glute off the floor and hold
- Repeat on right side and compare the motion between sides
