Hip External Rotation 90/90

Description

Hip external rotation shows the ability of the hip to rotate outward, which is essential for proper hip function and gives an indication of hip muscle activation.

To perform this assessment:

  1. From a lying position, bend hip and knee to 90-degrees
  2. Keeping thigh from moving side-to-side, externally rotate thigh (move lower leg inward) as far as possible
  3. Repeat on other side and compare the motion between sides
