To Perform this PIC for Left Hip Abduction w/ External Rotation:
- Move the hip into its end range position.
- ASSISTIVE technique: place left hand under the thigh with only enough support to perform the isometric contraction of flexion and abduction at 10-20% for 3-6 sec x 3-6 sets. Rest approximately 5 seconds between reps.
- RESITIVE technique: perform the following PICs:
- Place left hand on outside of thigh and push thigh outward (abduction) with only enough pressure to perform the isometric contraction at 10-20% for 3-6 sec x 3-6 sets. Rest approximately 5 seconds between reps.
- Place left hand on top of thigh and push thigh upward (flexion) with only enough pressure to perform the isometric contraction at 10-20% for 3-6 sec x 3-6 sets. Rest approximately 5 seconds between reps.
- Place left hand on outside/top of thigh and push up and out with only enough pressure to perform the isometric contraction at 10-20% for 3-6 sec x 3-6 sets. Rest approximately 5 seconds between reps.
- Perform the opposite for Right Hip abduction and flexion w/ external rotation.
